Updates for the week ending November 15, 2024

I’ve learned a lot while studying for the Google Analytics certification this year. As a result, I’ve updated some of the processes.

I can’t celebrate the Google Analytics Certification enough. Yes, it’s hard but it’s so valuable. Besides, Google has been making some valuable improvements lately.

One of the things I’ve learned is the value of Google Tag Assistant. This is an excellent tool to troubleshoot Analytics on your website. It’s valuable when you first set it up or even when you’re checking your conversions.

In addition, thanks to one of our Colony members, we recently discovered Google’s Tag Diagnostics. This is a very helpful way of confirming that Google Analytics and Tag Manager are on all the pages you expect. As a result, I’ve modified the 6-month Google Analytics checkup to use this feature.

This leads me to something. I’ve discovered some confusion in the Google Analytics process: while I recommend using Google SiteKit on WordPress websites, that doesn’t mean you should switch to SiteKit if Google Analytics is already on your client’s site. Instead, skip the setup process and go straight to the checkup.

You know- this is valuable to everyone, whether or not you’re doing SEO for your clients. You always want to make sure you can show your client that you’ve given them value for what they paid you. Even if you’re not doing marketing, please setup (and confirm) your Google Analytics and Conversion for them.
