Updates for the week ending December 15, 2023

I was thinking about on-page optimizations this week so I updated a couple processes.

Blogging is very important for SEO success- and will be even more important in the future. I’ve updated a couple things in the how to write a blog process that can help produce productive blog posts. For example:

  • I’ve changed my opinion about writing meta descriptions on blog posts. Previously I didn’t think it’s worthwhille, since Google would rewrite them anyway.
  • I’ve added a note to remind you to consider who the author is for each post in order to establish EEAT.
  • One of the biggest benefits from blog posts is internal links. I added some clarity for recommendations on how to build internal links from blog posts to help your SEO efforts.

While I was thinking about this, I went-in and updated the process to optimize a page for SEO. There weren’t significant changes in the process, but just needed to be cleaned up a little- especially since Google is removing tools that focus on mobile usability. That’s still important, but almost assumed at this point.
